Our Restaurant

Centrally located on the main street in historic Metuchen, The Greek on Main offers a delightful mix of traditional Greek dishes infused with modern flavors. Chef Theodore Kappas embraces the “farm to table” approach with locally sourced farm fresh meats and vegetables as well as the finest imported traditional ingredients that define Greek cuisine. Our restaurant is the perfect place for business lunches and dinners, intimate affairs, family dinners and a great place for special events and catering.

We take reservations for parties of up to 8 people on weekends and up to 20-30 people on weekdays. (credit card required – $15 charge per person if reservation is not canceled two hours before the event). Please call us at (732) 515-9457.

Desire Meets Opportunity

Chef Theodore Kappas has cultivated his passion for good eats and gained culinary experience while working in restaurants in the United States. In the early years he has run the gamut of sous chef at a diner and has later served as head chef for highly praised local restaurants. He may be recognized from various appearances on local TV channels or from serving up dishes at local food shows.

While he has excelled in continental cuisine—where in many occasions he has had the opportunity to create Greek inspired dishes—his desire has always been to work exclusively with Greek food. That desire not only to create but share his experiences was fulfilled when the cozy retail space on main street Metuchen became available. Simple and manageable yet elegant, in the heart of a developing city this space was perfect for his vision. Small enough to be cozy, big enough to be comfortable and simple enough as not to interfere with your dining experience The Greek on Main want you to dive into the blue waters of Mediterranean flavor and wake up your senses to indulge on our sun-bathed creations.

Parking & Public Transportation

We offer three hour free parking at the newly built Pearl Street parking garage,  and there is plenty of street parking after business hours. We are also one block away from the NJ Transit Metuchen Train Station.

We serve lunch and dinner seven days a week. See our Menus page to view our full lunch and dinner menus. Our business hours are:

• Monday to Friday: 11:30am to 10pm
• Saturday: 12pm to 10pm
• Sunday: 12pm to 9pm

    (kitchen closes at 9:30pm)

We are a BYOB restaurant but also serve New Jersey wines from Villari Vineyards

The Greek on Main is a Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB) restaurant however we have local New Jersey selections from Villari Vineyards too. We also offer a selection of non-alcoholic beverages for our guests and are happy to serve any fine wine or spirit you bring for your meal or event.
